Disabled Sports USA was founded in 1967
by disabled Vietnam Veterans and is a member of the United
States Olympic Committee. DS/USA has 86 chapters in 35 states,
and is one of the largest community based organizations
in the country providing sport and recreation opportunities
for persons with physical disabilities.
A fall intern is required to assist the
Programs Services Department. This includes a Department
of Labor research project, observing ‘the relationship
between organized recreational sport participation and the
outcomes of career development and job attainment among
individuals with recently acquired physical disabilities.
The intern will work closely with University of Louisville
personnel to assist with research methods as well as data
collection. The intern will also assist with general office
duties relating to other projects within program services
(including mailing, data entry, responding to inquiries,
among other tasks). Skills required include using the internet
as a research tool, good skill level with Microsoft applications,
such as excel and word. Database entry and maintenance will
also be required. Applicants should have excellent task
management and communication skills.
