Jim Winthers Memorial Award

ABOUT THE JIM WINTHERS MEMORIAL AWARD:

The Jim Winthers Memorial Award seeks to recognize life-time contributions and significant achievements in furthering the mission of Disabled Sports USA. Nominees for this award must have contributed a minimum of 15 years of service to DS/USA or one of its chapters.

The inscription on the plaque reads:

"For contributions of inestimable value to DSUSA and people with disabilities. To say thank you for your spirit and your love. And to proclaim that it is an honor to count you among our friends."

NOMINATIONS:
Nominations may be submitted by a DS/USA member by May 1, 2008. A Selection Committee will review all nominees and present their decision to the DS/USA Board of Directors for ratification. The selected nominee and the person who nominated them will be notified prior to their official presentation at the Ski Spectacular 2008.

National Disabled Ski Hall of Fame Award

ABOUT THE NATIONAL DISABLED SKI HALL OF FAME:

The Disabled Hall of Fame awards intend to recognize outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to disabled skiing in two categories, Recreational/Developmental and Competitive. The award in the Recreational/Development category intends to recognize an individual who has a minimum five-year experience in the disabled skiing field and has made a significant contribution to the field in ways such as: innovative techniques, specialized equipment, program development, education or public relations. The award in the Competition category intends to recognize an individual be it participant or coach, who has been active in disabled ski racing for a minimum of three years; race results, team participation's, innovative coaching techniques, and event promotions are considered for this category. Competitive racers and coaches must be retired from active racing or coaching, respectively, for a minimum of three years prior to nomination.
