DS/USA has added several new staffers to assist with our programming and services.

is the new executive assistant to Kirk Bauer. Yerby was previously an office manager for Hanger Orthopedic Group and District Orthopedic Appliances. In addition to her DS/USA duties, she coordinates events for women to learn more about their options after surgery and the advantages and disadvantages of the prostheses that are available. Yerby is certified by the American Board for Certification as a mastectomy fitter. |
joined DS/USA in June as a six-month program services intern. Scott graduated from Purdue University with a master’s degree in sports management. While there, he served as the Boilermakers’ sports information department graduate assistant.
Prior to attending Purdue, Scott graduated from Indiana State University with a bachelor of science degree in sports management and a minor in business administration. He spent three years working as a student-manager for the Sycamores’ cross-country, indoor and outdoor track and field program before serving as the marketing and sales intern for the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Scott feels that DS/USA is a perfect match for him since he is passionate about sports and helping others achieve. |
(Ret.) is a program assistant with the Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Project. Gill, an amputee after sustaining injuries in Iraq, is a recipient of the Purple Heart. He received sports rehabilitation from DS/USA, and then became an active volunteer for DS/USA before assuming duties as a program assistant for the Wounded Warriors Disabled Sports Project (WWDSP). He currently lives in Maryland with his wife, also a sergeant, and his son. He plans to move to San Antonio by year-end to study physical therapy. While there, he will continue as a WWDSP program assistant at Brooke Army Medical Center. |
is a summer intern, working primarily with Harvey Naranjo at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. She received her associate degree in math/science from Jamestown Community College and will be attending LECOM School of Pharmacy, Erie, Pa., for her doctorate in pharmacology this fall. Franklin feels that working at Walter Reed is an incredible opportunity to see first hand how the program provided can change the lives of the Wounded Warriors. Franklin is a native of Jamestown, N.Y. |

Favin is a recent graduate of James Madison University with a bachelor of science degree in public health with a minor in special education. She enjoys competing in triathlons and hopes that her love for sports and working with people with disabilities will contribute to DS/USA and its goals. Favin lives in Rockville, Md. |
, intern, is a senior at Connecticut College, working toward a degree in government, which he hopes to use to pursue a career in health care of disabled rights. McClure says that his service with DS/USA will help him gain experience working with an organization that promotes sports for the disabled, and will add to his own experience as a participant and beneficiary of disabled sports clinics. He has been a disabled skier since the age of five. McClure is a native of Guilford, Conn. |
joined DS/USA in May as a program intern. He is a junior at the University of South Carolina where he is working towards a degree in sports management. Martin believes his time with DS/USA will be rewarding as he gains valuable experience within the industry. Martin is from Fairfax, Va. |
will begin her senior year at Springfield College. She is studying therapeutic recreation and wants to pursue a career working with permanently disabled soldiers from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. |
